September is a crappy month for movies, but never fear...

...I'm back to help you sort out the crap from the good stuff. I haven't posted in a while, so here's what you've been missing out on:
  • My 3:10 to Yuma review, which is extremely positive because the movie is awesome.
  • My Richard Gere interview for The Hunting Party, and yes, I actually did meet him this time. Very polished sort of guy, although we got a little off track when he started talking about Buddhism.
  • My December Boys review, which is mediocre but very pretty. Er, the movie, not my review. Oddly enough that's also a description many people use for me.
  • My Mr. Woodcock review, which is extremely negative. If you don't think I write enough pans, then read this.
  • My The Brave One review. This one's complicated. But long story short, the movie's atrocious.
I mentioned DVD reviews in one of my earlier posts, and sure enough, the Bones: Season 2 and 30 Rock: Season 1 reviews should be coming up very soon. Neither shows are totally perfect, but both impressed me enough to check when their new season premieres are scheduled for. Bones in particular is way more entertaining than I thought it would be.

As for theatrical reviews, the next one up will be Into the Wild. I'm also really curious about Eastern Promises, the new Viggo Mortensen-David Cronenberg collaboration that also stars Naomi Watts. It got a great reaction at the Toronto Film Festival and it's doing freakishly good business in limited release now; it opens in over 1,000 theaters next week.
